Title: Feeling Good
I didn’t set out to reflect what was happening to me at the time; I intended to paint a fairly neutral space with little more than texture , soft colour and some movement with minimal detail. I wanted to introduce a degree of incongruity by framing the softness of the piece with a heavy and dominating frame. The central gold form almost put itself in the frame, the metallic finish adding to the contrast with the rest of the work. Smaller similar forms appeared almost serving as handmaidens to the larger one.
Whilst I was oblivious to the source of the addition to the piece my nearest and dearest immediately connected the piece with the enormous relief that I benefited from spinal cortisone injections I was treated with at the time. Oh joy!
