Title: Blue

Blue is not my natural ‘go to colour’…in my world, blue definitely belongs outdoors!
This painting is therefore a bit of a departure/development for me. It started off as a seascape and went through a range of incarnations, gradually morphing into a still life, influenced by some rather lovely pottery borrowed from a neighbour. As often happens with my work my direction is largely led by what I see in a softly lit room, the shapes and composition that inform me from the shadows. As this work progressed I eventually abandoned any notion of definition and settled for just enjoying the mood that was evident; the emotional impact of the composition and detail.
