Title: Commission

I’m not keen on taking on commissions. This one was quite successful but too many have been an absolute chore. I am far more concerned with the joy of painting rather than any income that may result and my experience of delivering commissions have left me far from being joyous! It seems that most patrons want painters to reproduce images that only exist in their own imaginations and don’t quite understand the boundaries that are required to produce a quality piece that both delivers something that they will enjoy and the integrity of the painter.

This painting work was commissioned on the basis of familiarity with my work The specification was clear and to the point and thus there were no tears before bedtime.
